Isakson Welcomes Macon Student to U.S. Senate Page Program
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., has selected Logan Michael Bates, a high school junior from Macon, Ga., to participate in the United States Senate Page Program in Washington, D.C.
Bates began serving as a senate page on February 1, 2016 and will remain through June 10, 2016.
Isakson said “I am proud to welcome Logan to our nation’s capital and into the highly competitive United States Senate Page Program. I expect great things out of him and know he will represent Georgia and our office well,”
Bates has a 4.0 GPA at Mount De Sales Academy and was recently inducted into the World Language Honor Society for French. He participates in high school extra curricular activities, Rebuilding Macon, and Ocmulgee National Monument cleanup.
Bates also lettered in Cross Country, Basketball, and Track.
Isakson is allowed to appoint one senate page from Georgia per session. Page duties generally include preparing the Senate chamber for sessions, delivering legislation and correspondence, and distributing statuses and amendments on the senate floor.
Pages who service in the fall and spring must also attend classes at the U.S. Senate Page School before reporting for duty on the senate floor.
