Irwinton City Employees Arrested for Stealing Money from City
IRWINTON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two Irwinton city employees were arrested today for taking money from the city, according to the GBI.
Lisa Brooks, the Irwinton city clerk, and Roger Ford, who worked with street maintenance, turned themselves in to the Wilkinson County jail this afternoon. The pair was arrested after Wilkinson County District Attorney Fred Bright asked for an investigation, when an audit showed funds missing from the city.
They are charged with theft by taking. The GBI tells 4NBC Ford was released on bond, but there’s still no word as to whether Brooks was able to bond out.
