Iron Men’s Health Fair Less Than A Month Away

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Bibb County leaders gathered at the Douglass Theater to kick off the Iron Men’s Health Fair. The health fair will be during prostate awareness month. Mayor Robert Reichert, Bibb County Chairman Sam Hart, and Chairman of the Iron Men’s Health Fair Jimmy Mills attended the breakfast at the historic theater.

Sponsors and healthcare professionals were also at the breakfast to talk about the importance of routine physical examinations for men. 

“I’ve gone to the doctor every year for as long as I’ve known. I was able to detect some things that I think saved my life. I lost a couple of friends who just refused to go to the doctor, and that is what kind of prompted me to do this along with my pastor who encouraged me to do this,” said Jimmy
Mills, Iron Men’s Health Fair Chairperson.

The Iron Men’s Health Fair will be held in Central City Park on September 22nd with a 5k race, 3-on-3 basketball, and Zumba. The health fair will provide prostate, diabetes, and blood pressure checks. This event is sponsored by African American churches in conjunction with prostate awareness month.
