Investigators Look into Facebook Threats Aimed at Rutland Students

Law enforcement is investigating an apparent bomb threat at Rutland High School Friday. According to a school spokesperson, Campus Police searched the school this morning after someone reported bomb threats on facebook geared toward Rutland students.

Capt. Mike Smallwood with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says they still don’t know who is responsible, but investigators believe it could be a student or former student.

“We feel like it was a student or former student cause he knew an awful lot or she knew an awful lot about the school and about some students there,” explained Smallwood.

School leaders called parents to inform them of the situation, but classes went on as usual.

The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
