International Taste of Soul: A World of Culture Comes to Macon
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – It was a chance to get the sights, sounds and tastes from around the world without having to leave Macon.
The International Taste of Soul at the Tubman African American Museum celebrated a variety of cuisines from several different cultures on Sunday. While the comfort foods from as far as Germany to right here in Middle Georgia stole the show, the meaningful conversations about diversity also captured people’s attention.
“We like to say that we’re breaking bread as we break down barriers,” said Nicole Thurston, director of sales and marketing at the Tubman African American Museum, “so it’s a nice safe place to talk and what better way than through food.”
This year’s event featured 21 chefs and live music. There was everything from curry to collard greens to help expand taste buds and mark the official end of the Pan African Festival.
