Ingleside district in Macon added to National Register of Historic Places
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Ingleside Historic District is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
That’s the United States’ official list of historic buildings, sites and districts worthy of preservation. Historic Macon staff members have been working on this for five years. Now that they’ve accomplished their goal, homeowners in the area can receive special tax credits.
“Within the state of Georgia there are three programs that people are eligible for. The federal historic tax credit for rehabilitating historic homes, a state historic income tax credit for rehabilitating homes and also a property tax freeze you can get when you work on a historic home,” said Kim Campbell from Historic Macon.
Historic Macon plans to put a plaque in Henry Burns Park to celebrate the recognition.
