IndyCar Back At Historic Gritty Milwaukee Track

WEST ALLIS, WI – The Milwaukee Mile nearly slipped off the motorsports map for good last year, when financial problems left it without a viable promoter or a major race.

Now the IndyCar series is back at the Mile this weekend, trying to revive a market that once was a hotbed for Indy-style racing.

It remains to be seen how big of a crowd will show for Sunday’s race, which falls on Father’s Day. The track’s last-minute announcement of a two-for-one ticket deal is a win for fans, but also could be an indication that demand isn’t surging.

The Mile has hosted auto racing since 1903 and its historical significance isn’t lost on the drivers. Graham Rahal, son of Indy icon Bobby Rahal, said it “it just didn’t seem right” for the series to miss Milwaukee last year.
