IndyCar Announces 15-Race Schedule, May Add 2 More

INDIANAPOLIS – The IndyCar Series will at Texas in June and make a stop in China in 2012.

The long-awaited schedule, released Thursday, has 15 races and could have two more. Series CEO Randy Bernard says the series is in the process of confirming an additional event and is looking at a 17th race.

Four oval races – Indianapolis on May 27, Texas on June 9, Iowa on June 23 and Fontana on Sept. 15 – appear on the schedule.

The season will begin March 25 at St. Petersburg, will stop in Brazil on April 29 and China on Aug. 19. Texas, Iowa and Fontana, Calif., will host night races. The series returns to Detroit for the first time since 2008, and Fontana, Calif., for the first time since 2005.
