Indy Fuel Miscues Spark Debate Inside Ganassi Team
INDIANAPOLIS – Dario Franchitti couldn’t quite squeeze out another fuel mileage win at Indianapolis. Scott Dixon couldn’t believe he needed another splash of fuel to reach the finish line, either.
The Target Chip Ganassi teammates both lost high-risk gambles late in Sunday’s Indy 500, the team’s second straight weekend with fuel troubles.
On Sunday, it cost both drivers a shot at reaching Victory Lane and prompted Dixon to call the move to refuel on Lap 179 “completely stupid.”
In qualifying, both drivers ran out of fuel on their final qualifying lap, denying both a legitimate shot on the pole.
