Increase in National Debt Does Not Mean An Economic Standstill
The economy in Middle Georgia has gone through some big changes in the last year. According to the Georgia Department of Labor, unemployment is down 0.2% from just one month ago… and 700 jobs have been added to counties in Middle Georgia contributing to the decline in statewide unemployment.
Standard and Poor reported that despite economic growth in the U.S. economy, the long-term outlook has gone from stable to negative. Congressman Scott explains that this recovery after the recession is the slowest in U.S. history.
“The bottom line is that government programs are growing much faster than the the economy.”
The government cannot keep up with the rising GDP. Scott says this is one of the biggest challenges in Washington right no and fixing the problem requires access to capital and allowing small business owners to make a profit.
Today, local McDonald’s franchises are hiring more employees to help boost the economy. As part of McDonald’s National Hiring Day, the Warner Robins and Byron branches plan to take on 5 to 6 employees per each location.
“Through the economic struggles, we are growing, we’re serving more customers than ever before… Right now our target is 30 employees but if we have more qualified workers we are prepared to hire more,” says Tamika Anderson, Area Manager McDonald’s Warner Robins and Byron.
