MACON, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgia High School Football held its inaugural Football Media Day Thursday in the Westside High School Auditorium.  Several football and flag football teams from schools all across middle and southern Georgia attended the first ever event.

Schools from our region included Northeast, Warner Robins, Ace, Westside flag football, Perry, Peach County, Central, and both Rutland football and flag football teams.  These teams spoke on last season and how they are preparing for the season ahead.

On-air personality Najeh Wilkins spoke about why the GHSF has decided to come to Macon. “We came down here to continue to expand the event” Wilkins said. “We want to feature all of the schools. We feel like we do a good job of representing the schools in metro Atlanta, but we want to expand and get schools from middle Georgia, south Georgia, and getting more programs so they can get featured today.”

Wilkins went onto say, “Giving an event where kids can come and showcase their school, showcase their pride and their community, and what it means to them, that was really the cause for that and we are growing. We are going to have Mr. Georgia Football this year, so we will continue to try to put these kids out on a platform and show them amongst others in the community.”
