ICE agent fatally shoots woman during immigration operation in Minneapolis
DHS says the woman tried to run over officers, while the Minneapolis mayor calls the shooting reckless and demands ICE leave the city

MINNEAPOLIS (AP/CNN)- An ICE agent fatally shot a woman in Minneapolis during an immigration enforcement operation after authorities said she tried to run over officers with her vehicle.
The Department of Homeland Security said the woman was part of a group of violent protesters who “weaponized” a vehicle and attempted to strike an ICE officer. The agency said the officer feared for his life and for the safety of the public when he fired.
The woman was shot during what DHS described as “targeted operations” being conducted in the city. Other federal agents and local police were also on the scene at the time of the incident.
The fatal shooting occurred amid a large-scale immigration enforcement effort in Minneapolis. Homeland Security said it has deployed more than 2,000 ICE agents to the city, calling it the largest immigration operation ever conducted.
Minneapolis’ mayor sharply criticized the shooting, saying the ICE officer “recklessly” shot the motorist. The mayor demanded that ICE leave the city following the fatal encounter.
DHS has not provided additional details about the woman, the officer involved, or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
The incident remains under scrutiny as federal immigration enforcement continues in Minneapolis.
