I-16 Accident Causes Car to Flip on Side

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man driving onto Interstate 16 Tuesday morning says he was trying to merge onto the ramp, but another car wouldn’t let him, causing him to lose control.

It happened at the on ramp near Spring Street. WJ Harrison, III tells 41NBC he had his blinker on to merge onto the ramp, but another car clipped him in the back. He says that caused his car to fish tail and lose control. Harrison says he was able to get control back, but the momentum caused his car to go up the bank and flip on its side.

Harrison believes wet roads could have contributed to the accident.

“My car wasn’t accelerating, I know I wasn’t on the gas, but at the same sense it got momentum to come up the hill,” Harrison said. “So I’m thinking, during all this commotion, me trying to maintain the vehicle, yes it accelerated, got up the [bank]. It could be due to the…wet conditions.”

Harrison wasn’t injured.

Although an official police report won’t be ready for a few days, police on the scene believe Harrison was speeding when he took the curve onto the ramp, which caused him to go over the bank and flip.
