Husband Gets Life in Prison for Murder-for-Hire
PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – James “Eddy” Clements was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday afternoon for hiring two men to kill his wife.
Clements showed little emotion during the sentencing. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for malice murder and other related charges. Judge Edward Lukemire told the court that the evidence indicated the acts were “calculated and cold-blooded”. Clements mother appeared distraught during the sentencing. She sat with a Bible and cross in her lap and left the courtroom several times.
Robert and Richard Sybert were also sentenced Wednesday. Richard Sybert, the gunman, plead guilty and was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. During the sentencing, Sybert’s attorney Burt Baker said “he expresses his heartfelt regret…and is fully sorry for what he has done”.
Robert Sybert, Richard’s father and the getaway driver, plead guilty and was sentenced to 30 years in prison for attempted murder and other related charges. Sybert left the courtroom in tears.
District Attorney George Hartwig said he’s “very satisfied” with the sentencing. He says his prayers are with the Clements’ children.
