Unloaded firearm found in student’s backpack at school in Houston County

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- An unloaded firearm was found in a student’s backpack during a search on campus, according to a message from Huntingon Middle School Principal Marlon Robinson that was sent to parents.

Robinson said school administrators found the firearm during the backpack search.

The firearm was immediately secured, and the school took appropriate steps under its safety and discipline procedures, according to the message.

Robinson said all students and staff are safe.

“We understand that any incident involving a weapon at school is concerning,” Robinson said in the message. “Please know that we take every safety concern seriously and will continue to respond immediately when a concern is identified or reported.”
