The Hunt Continues for escaped inmates
MADISON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The search continues for escaped inmates Ricky Dubose and Donnie Rowe.
Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said the inmates are still on the run.
“The public is in grave danger. These are dangerous, seriously dangerous, vicious hoodlums, that need to be apprehended,” Sills said.
He said the new reward for capturing the inmates is $130,000.
“I’ve been a police officer of some sort in this state for over 43 years,” Sills said. “I can tell you today that there has never been a reward that large.”
FBI Special Agent David LeValley said the FBI is searching everywhere in the country for these inmates, but agents need the public’s help.
“We need the eyes and ears, everybody really in this country to be on the lookout for these two individuals,” LeValley said.
He said there will be billboard campaigns put up Thursday in multiple states. The billboards will list the reward amount and the hotline number.
LeValley said people can call 877-WANTED-2 if they have information that can lead to the arrest of Rowe and Dubose.
The prisoners are accused of shooting and killing correction officers Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue.
Gregg Dozier, Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner, said he remembers how he felt on Tuesday when he heard the officers died.
“The pain and anguish that was in the toes of my feet, went up to my heart,” Dozier said. “As that day went on, and I learned more and more about these two officers and met their families, the impact of these cowardly acts is far reaching.”
Sills fought back tears as he explained how much it hurt him to have a mourning band on his badge.
“It’s been on this badge more this year, than anyway I could remember,” Sills said. “Listen we’ve grown to expect this every second of everyday, not just in this circumstance, certainly in this circumstance. But we expect to be assassinated everyday.”
Sills said investigators will keep working until they find the inmates.
The last car the inmates were reported in was a 2008 White Ford F-250 with the tag number BCX5372.
