Hundreds turn out for Robins Air Force Base Military Career Fair

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Inmates in Georgia prisons don’t stand a chance against the Georgia Department of Corrections’ Special Operations Unit, known as the “TACT Team.”

The department was one of dozens of employers looking to fill thousands of positions during a military career fair held at Robins Air Force Base Friday morning.

Air Force Staff Sgt. Aaron Wray was there looking for a job.

Wray got help from a fellow Staff Sgt., Sean Reed, who recently graduated from Basic Correctional Officer Training.

Michael Szymanoski is Robins Air Force Base Director of the 78th Force Support Squadron.

He says his men and women get the training they need to be successful outside of the military.

He hopes the people he oversees find suitable employment.

“The employers will find exceptional talent from our local military, their families, and our civilian population here,” says Szymanoski. “These are people who have proven themselves already. They’re reliable workforce, well trained and well disciplined.”

Nearly 200 people searched for a new career during the fair.

The Georgia Department of Corrections is scheduled to host another one in June.
