Hundreds Turn Out for Christmas Party for the Homeless

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Droves of Macon’s homeless and needy turned out Tuesday night for the 15th annual Christmas Party for the Homeless.

The event was held at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Macon.

Guests waited in a long line outside for the doors to open before they enjoyed good fellowship and a full meal inside.

Students from the Mentors Project served hundreds of plates of food and gave out blankets and other gifts.

“I can be much prouder of Macon that Macon is really an exciting place that it cares so much for persons that can not provide for themselves,” says George Hill, a guest at the party.  “And it’s making it so possible for them to have a Merry Christmas.  I thank God for that.”

June O’Neal, with the Mentors Project, says people she’d never even met showed up to help out at the event.

She asks if you have someone on your Christmas list who already has everything they need, mentor a child in their honor.  Just give the Mentors Project a call at (478) 765-8624.
