Hundreds of Balloons Released in Honor of World Diabetes Day
GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – November is National Diabetes Month, and Wednesday a youth group in Gray lit up the sky in honor of those who suffer from the disease.
More than a hundred people showed up at Gray United Methodist church to jot down the names of loved ones who have diabetes on blue balloons. Blue happens to be the representative color for the disease, and Wednesday was the official World Diabetes Day.
The group released hundreds of the balloons into the night sky in honor of those loved ones.
41NBC spoke with Tracy Gattie, who’s 11-year-old son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes just last year–she tells us she didn’t realize how much the disease affects the family and friends of those who have it.
