Humanitarian Gang Inc. to host backpack giveaway

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) —Humanitarian Gang Inc. is hosting its third annual “Back 2 School Drive-Thru Giveaway” for local students in need.

The event will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. on July 19 at the U Create Macon Innovation Center, located at 1065 Anthony Road in Macon.

Victoria Hudson, founder and executive director of Humanitarian Gang Inc., said the giveaway is open to the community.

Hudson said attendees can purchase a Humanitarian Gang Inc. T-shirt for $45, which will help provide four backpacks filled with school supplies to children in need. She added that the organization is also seeking donors and sponsors to help expand the reach of the backpack drive.

Tonora Jones, one of the event’s speakers, will share the story of her 14-year-old daughter, who was tragically shot and killed in Macon 10 years ago. Jones said she hopes sharing her daughter’s story will encourage open conversations about gun violence.
