Human remains found in Milledgeville

Officers found a decomposed body in a shallow creek bed. The identity cannot be determined at this time due to the decomposition of the body.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Human remains were found in the woods at the end of Mayfair Court in Milledgeville, according to the Milledgeville Police Department.

The Milledgeville Police Department received a call about human remains that were found around 5 p.m. on May 27.

Officers found a decomposed body in a shallow creek bed. The identity cannot be determined at this time due to the decomposition of the body.

The remains were turned over to the coroner’s office to be taken to the GBI crime lab for identification.

Milledgeville PD says more information will be released once the identification has been determined and next of kin has been notified.
