Howard High graduate earns scholarship and laptop from Farah & Farah
The Empowering Greatness Scholarship launched in 2020 and has awarded nearly $200,000 to 30 students.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Donald Williams, a graduate of Howard High School, has been awarded the Empowering Greatness Scholarship from personal injury law firm Farah & Farah.
In addition to the scholarship, the firm also provided Williams with a new laptop.
Williams is now attending the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he is participating in a summer program before officially beginning his freshman year. He plans to major in computer science, a field he became interested in during high school.
“I’m very thankful for this opportunity that they gave me,” Williams said. “Without this opportunity, I would probably still be using this laptop that I’m currently on, possibly running into issues with it basically shutting down during class whenever I need to make the deadlines. Mainly, that new laptop will be used for coding or it will be used for other research opportunities that may come up.”
Williams is a first-generation college student. He said he chose Georgia Tech because of its strong computer science program and its location in his home state.
The Empowering Greatness Scholarship launched in 2020 and has awarded nearly $200,000 to 30 students. In 2024, the program expanded to include laptops for five Georgia students.
To qualify, applicants must be high school seniors attending Title I schools in Georgia, demonstrate academic excellence, show a commitment to community service, and submit an essay.
Farah & Farah said it plans to continue the scholarship program and technology support for students in the future.
