Houston school board members take oath of office

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two members of Houston County’s board of education say they’re looking to keep the school system moving moving in the right direction.

Several members swore in Tuesday morning taking an oath of office to serve on the board. Newcomer Hoke Morrow and veteran member Fred Wilson say the plan is to continue to keep schools excelling.

“Just go along with what we’re doing and maybe bring my experience and knowledge as a business person and a Houston County person,” Morrow said.

“When I was asked to serve on the board, I said yes I want to give back to what has been given to my children and serve so that’s why I continue to serve,” Wilson said.

Dr. Marianne Melnick also took her oath to represent district 2.

Melnick, Morrow, and Wilson will serve on the school board until the end 2018.
