WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Houston Healthcare based in Warner Robins and Emory Healthcare in Atlanta have signed a non-binding Letter of Intent to explore a potential affiliation, according to a news release from Houston Healthcare and Emory Healthcare. The agreement would move toward integrating both organizations, with plans to finalize the partnership by 2025, pending the completion of due diligence, regulatory reviews, and satisfaction of closing conditions.

The proposed affiliation is expected to enhance the ability of both healthcare providers to deliver high-quality care and expand their reach across Georgia. Joon S. Lee, MD, CEO of Emory Healthcare, says the new relationship would extend Emory’s services beyond the Atlanta metro area while broadening its geographic footprint in Georgia.

Charles G. Briscoe, FACHE, President and CEO of Houston Healthcare highlighted the opportunity to continue and strengthen Houston Healthcare’s tradition of patient-focused care through the partnership with Emory Healthcare.

The Boards of Directors and leadership of Houston Healthcare view the move as essential for maintaining the organization’s legacy of quality care. According to Ivan Allen, EdD, Chair of Houston Healthcare System, Inc., joining a larger, high-performing hospital system is a crucial next step to increase operational efficiencies and support future growth.

Houston Healthcare operates two hospital campuses, five outpatient facilities, and nine physician practices. The organization serves more than 300,000 patients annually with a workforce of 2,500 employees and 200 physicians.
