Houston County School Board approves Veterans hiring of Steven DeVoursney as next football coach
Veterans High School has hired Steven Devoursney as the Warhawks' new head football coach; School board approved hiring Tuesday

KATHLEEN, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – Veterans High School has found its next head football coach.
On Tuesday, the Houston County School Board approved the hiring of Steven DeVoursney to lead the Warhawks football program in 2025. DeVoursney comes to Veterans with a combined record of 182-68 from his time in Griffin (2000-2013) and Cairo (2015-2021) where he won a combined five region titles (three with Griffin and two with Cairo) and led the Bears to a perfect 15-0 undefeated championship season in 2013.
Veterans parted ways with former head coach Josh Ingram in November after Coach Ingram went 1-9 in 2024 and combined for a 9-21 record in his three seasons at the helm.
DeVoursney is the fourth football head coach in Veterans program history after they began playing in 2010. He hopes to lead the Warhawks to their fourth winning season in history.
DeVoursney joins Central head coach Jarrett Laws as another former Griffin head coach taking the reigns of a Middle Georgia program.
The school board also approved the hiring of another Houston County football head coach. Daniel ‘Boone’ Williams will lead the Northside football program in 2025. Williams confirmed his hiring on Monday night and posted on social media Tuesday.
