Houston County deputies investigating three-month-old baby’s death
According to the Warner Robins Police Department, officers responded to a home on Delaware Avenue Wednesday around 8:15 a.m. The parents of the baby identified her as Micheala Gray. Her mother, Marquitta Gray, tells 41NBC she checked on Micheala around 5 a.m. and she was fine. When the infant was checked on a couple of hours later, Micheala had died.
“She was already gone. God had already took her by 7 [a.m.],” Marquitta Gray said.
“She fell asleep. She passed in her sleep. You can answer God’s call. Once he calls you, parents, sisters, brothers, you got to go,” Christopher Gray, Micheala’s father said.
An autopsy is scheduled to determine how Michaela died. Her parents tell 41NBC it could have been from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or she may have suffocated in her sheets. According to the Centers for Disease Control, 3,500 infants die suddenly and unexpectedly each year.
“She was very healthy. I was just laughing and talking with her yesterday,” Marquitta Gray said. “She was very happy, full of joy, she was always smiling. She was just a good baby.”
The investigation was turned over to the Houston County Juvenile Division. Investigators will not release any other information until they get the results from the autopsy.
