Houston County Baseball Players Sign with Georgia State, Georgia Tech
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A pair of Houston County High School baseball players will play college ball in the Peach State’s capital city.
Blake Jackson and Justin Jones signed their letters of intent in the school’s cafeteria Thursday afternoon. Justin will attend Georgia State University, and Blake will go to Georgia Tech.
Both players were huge assets to last year’s team, which made it to the Sweet 16 in the state playoffs. Last season, the two combined for 6 homeruns and 47 RBIs.
It was an emotional day for both Blake and Justin. They’ve grown up playing baseball together.
“I knew it was going to happen since we were kids,” Blake says. “We both strived every day to do the best we can and be the best baseball players we can be out there, so I knew it was gonna happen.”
“It’s even more than I could have hoped for,” Justin says. “This is such an important day in me and Blake’s lives and everyone who came out and supported us–my friends, my family, my coaches, everyone here at HoCo–we’re like a family. It’s just really a blessing, and I couldn’t have asked for anything better.”
Both Jackson and Jones will return for their senior baseball seasons this spring before leaving for college next fall.
