House moves toward vote to release DOJ’s Jeffrey Epstein files
The House is preparing for a highly anticipated vote today that could force the Justice Department to release all of its files related to notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

(NBC)- The House is preparing for a highly anticipated vote today that could force the Justice Department to release all of its files related to notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, marking a major escalation in the push for transparency.
After months of resisting the effort, President Trump has reversed course, now urging Republicans to support the bill and saying he would sign it if it reaches his desk.
“We have nothing to do with Epstein,” the president said, adding, “They can do whatever they want… we’ll give them everything.”
Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle say the measure has enough support to pass. Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), one of the lead advocates, noted that nearly 100 Republicans were prepared to defy the president before he changed his position.
With Trump now backing the proposal, GOP support has solidified.
“Everybody’s gonna vote for it!” said Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX).
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), who has been pushing for the files’ release, expressed concern that new investigations President Trump has directed the Justice Department to open could be used to justify withholding documents.
“I believe they may be trying to use those investigations as a predicate for not releasing the files,” Massie said.
President Trump, who socialized with Epstein decades ago before cutting ties, has not been accused of wrongdoing related to Epstein’s crimes. Meanwhile, survivors of Epstein’s abuse are gathering at the Capitol today, urging lawmakers to move forward. Many are hoping today’s vote marks a major step on the long road to accountability.
