Hotel fees hit all time high
Hotel fees are hitting record highs and now even the in-room coffee is at risk.
Unfortunately for travelers, fees and surcharges are a growing moneymaker for hotels and not likely to go away anytime soon.
New research from New York University indicates that hotels in the United States will tack on $2.55 billion in fees this year.
The good news now, if it can be called that, is that the rate of increase has slowed.
About 210-thousand owners of Volkswagens with 2-liter diesel engines that cheat on emissions tests have registered to settle with the company under the terms of a June court agreement.
That’s about 44 percent and VW owners still have a few weeks to opt out.
The German carmaker will spend up to $10 billion buying back or repairing Volkswagen and Audi 2-liter vehicles and paying owners another $5,100 to $10,000 each.
Stocks rebounded Monday, ending a 3 day skid.
But trading is subdued with volume on Monday the lowest of the year.
Current and former Chipotle employees claim that the company made them work extra hours “off the clock” without paying them.
It’s a practice known as wage theft.
The class action suit says they were asked to work without pay to meet budget goals.
Chipotle denies any wrongdoing.
And J-Crew and Nordstrom are partnering.
Both retailers could use a lift.
The J.Crew items Nordstrom will sell include its Regent and Rhodes blazers, Italian cashmere, outerwear, and Martie pants, among others.
