Hotel Clerk Fends Off Would-Be Robber with Scissors, Bibb Deputies Looking for Suspect

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County deputies are looking for a man who tried to rob a west Macon hotel with a knife Monday night.

At about 10 p.m, a man approached the counter at the Best Western Inn on Chambers Road and demanded money from the clerk.

The clerk reached for a pair of scissors on the counter, and when he looked up, the suspect was gone.

The sheriff’s office says the suspect fled toward Walmart.

He’s described as a black man, about 6’1″ with a skinny build.  He had a beard and was wearing a red cap with a gold “A” on it.  He was also wearing a white shirt with blue jeans.

Deputies say the suspect was last seen in a black 4-door sedan.
