Hooked on Science: Fourth of July rocket

(41NBC/WMGT) — Science Guy Jason Lindsey shows us this week a new way to launch decorations!

Warning do not try this without safety glasses and a parent!

Using a fireworks decoration for the rocket this time, we take an old film canister and secure it to the bottom of the decoration. Next you’ll want to fill the canister with some water. Now use one Effervescent tablet and add it to the canister and quickly close it! The tablet mixes with the water to produce large amounts of carbon dioxide in a chemical reaction, when the gas fills up the canister too much it will force the lid off launching the decoration in a less explosive fashion compared to a firework but still just as fun!
