Homer In The House: Lawmakers Honor Larry Munson
ATLANTA – Lawmakers in the state House are paying tribute to Georgia’s most beloved homer.
A resolution honoring Georgia Bulldogs football announcer Larry Munson, who died in November, was adopted by the House on Wednesday and presented to Munson’s son by Speaker David Ralston.
Legislators shouted “Go Dawgs!” from their seats in the House chamber before watching a video compilation of Munson’s famous calls – such as “Look at the sugar falling out of the sky!” and “Man is there going to be some property destroyed tonight!” – as he unapologetically rooted for his home team during nearly 43 years on the radio.
Ralston called Munson, who died at age 89, one of Georgia’s greatest citizens and said that “listening to Larry Munson on the radio was literally better than being there.”
