Holocaust Survivor Shares His Harrowing Story With Students at Bonaire
BONAIRE,Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Author, retired professor, and Holocaust survivor Dr. Eugen Schoenfeld, tells his story of survival to dozens of students at Bonaire Middle School. Schoenfeld spent 3 months in a concentration camp in Warsaw. Students at Bonaire say they were excited to hear from someone who actually experienced the Holocaust first hand. Students sang Schoenfeld a song and spoke with him for several minutes after his presentation. After the Holocaust, Schoenfeld came to the U.S and eventually became a college professor. “We cannot learn unless somebody shares those experiences with the younger people that is the essence of learning, sharing your experiences”, said Dr. Eugen Schoenfeld. “He is not frighten of the world like I would be if I would have gone through something tragic like that and he is willing to come out and talk to us while we are learning about the holocaust”, said Drew Clark, Bonaire student. Doctor Schoenfeld, has written two books,”my reconstructed life” and ” Faith and conflict” .
