Hollywood Minute: ‘Rust’ released, Coppola’s graphic novel

The long-delayed Alec Baldwin Western "Rust" has officially been released.

(CNN)- The long-delayed Alec Baldwin Western “Rust” has officially been released, more than three years after the on-set tragedy that claimed the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The incident occurred when a live round discharged from a prop gun Baldwin was handling. The film’s armorer was convicted of involuntary manslaughter, while the case against Baldwin himself was dismissed by a judge due to an evidence dispute. “Rust” is now available in theaters and on video-on-demand platforms.

Meanwhile, Francis Ford Coppola’s ambitious project “Megalopolis”, which struggled to gain momentum in theaters, is getting new life in the form of a graphic novel. Titled “Megalopolis: An Original Graphic Novel”, the companion work will expand on the world created in the film. In a press release, Coppola described the graphic novel as “a sibling of the film, rather than just an echo.” It’s scheduled for release this fall from Abrams ComicArts.

The party’s far from over for “Sinners”, Ryan Coogler’s hit film that’s already made a strong mark at the box office. Although its original IMAX run has ended, Warner Brothers has announced the film will return to select theaters due to “overwhelming popular and critical response.”

“Sinners” will be re-released in nine North American IMAX 70mm theaters for a limited engagement from May 15 through 21. Viewers can check for participating locations at imax.com/sinners.
