Hollywood Minute: Miami Vice reboot, Johnny Cash auction

A new film based on the iconic 1980s TV series is in the works.

(CNN)- “This is Detective Crockett, Miami-Dade PD. Patch me through to your SAC.” That line from 2006’s Miami Vice may not have lit up the box office, but Universal is giving it another shot. A new film based on the iconic 1980s TV series is in the works, with Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski set to lead the project.

In other entertainment news, Johnny Cash fans are in for a rare opportunity. “The Cindy Cash Collection,” one of the largest auctions of the late legend’s personal items, is now live. On the block: rare family photos, unique furniture like a hand-carved dragon bed, and stunning jewelry including a natural blue and white diamond ring set in 14-karat gold. The auction runs through Sunday, May 4th. Full details are available at CindyCash.com.

A new psychological drama is making its debut this week. I’m Beginning to See the Light follows a troubled musician drawn to a mysterious lighthouse. Jack Huston, Abbie Cornish, and Brandon T. Jackson star in the film, arriving on digital and VOD platforms this Friday, May 2.
