(CNN)- Academy Award-winning director Guillermo del Toro says he’ll never turn to generative AI for filmmaking.

Speaking with NPR, the Frankenstein filmmaker said, “I would rather die than use it. I hope to be able to remain uninterested in using it at all until I croak.” Del Toro compared his fictional scientist Victor Frankenstein to “tech bros” — visionaries creating something powerful without understanding its consequences.

Meanwhile, in theaters, Mckenna Grace takes on a deeply emotional role in Colleen Hoover’s Regretting You. Co-stars Allison Williams, Dave Franco, and Mason Thames praised Grace’s ability to instantly tap into intense emotions before returning to her upbeat self between takes.

“She’s able to access deep emotions so quickly,” said Williams, while Franco added, “It’s dizzying — she’s joking and doodling seconds later.”

Grace said she brings positive energy to set because, “It’s better than being a little down.”
