Hollywood Minute: “Deadliest Catch” returns, classic comedy surges, and Hallmark unveils new trilogy

The high seas are calling once again as Deadliest Catch kicks off its 21st season today on Discovery Channel.

(CNN)- The high seas are calling once again as Deadliest Catch kicks off its 21st season today (August 1) on Discovery Channel. Longtime star Captain Sig Hansen says the danger and drama remain as real as ever.

“Every time you go fishing, it’s always a new experience… you can never predict what’s gonna happen,” Hansen said. “I think that’s why the fans that have been watching this show for the last 20-plus years, they dig it.”

The reality series continues to follow crab fishermen risking their lives for massive hauls worth billions—often braving brutal storms and icy waters.

Meanwhile, nostalgia is fueling a spike in streaming for the 1988 comedy The Naked Gun, starring Leslie Nielsen. The classic film has climbed to the top of the daily streaming chart on the platform JustWatch, following buzz around a new Naked Gun reboot.

And over on Hallmark Channel, the Providence Falls trilogy makes its screen debut this Saturday (August 2). The romantic fantasy series stars Katie Stevens and Lachlan Quarmby as a couple whose love story defies time itself.
