(CNN)- A rare Bob Ross painting sold for more than a million dollars as part of a special auction hosted by John Oliver and HBO’s Last Week Tonight, raising money for stations facing the loss of federal funding. In total, the auction brought in more than one-and-a-half million dollars to support public broadcasting.
Meanwhile in Hollywood, new projects are generating buzz. Scarlett Johansson is set to star in the next film connected to The Exorcist franchise. The movie, produced by Blumhouse and Universal, is reportedly not a remake or sequel, but will exist within the established Exorcist universe.
Actor Glen Powell is also stepping into a new dark comedic thriller. In How to Make a Killing, he plays a man cutting off wealthy relatives to reclaim a massive inheritance. The film features Ed Harris and Margaret Qualley and is scheduled to hit theaters on February 20th.
