(CNN)- An emotional Bad Bunny kicked off Grammy night by accepting three awards, including album of the year for Debí Tirar Más Fotos, warming up for Super Bowl weekend with a dominant showing and heartfelt remarks that drew loud cheers from the crowd.
Social issues also took center stage throughout the ceremony. Immigration themes surfaced during several acceptance speeches, including from Billie Eilish and her brother FINNEAS, who took home song of the year.
“No one is illegal on stolen land,” Eilish said, prompting a standing ovation.
Best new artist winner Olivia Dean echoed that sentiment, sharing her family’s story.
“I’m up here as a granddaughter of an immigrant,” Dean said. “I’m a product of bravery, and I think those people deserve to be celebrated.”
Faith was another major theme of the night. Jelly Roll celebrated Jesus after winning three trophies, delivering a passionate speech about inclusion and belief.
“Jesus is for everybody,” he told the audience. “Anybody can have a relationship with him.”
The ceremony also paused to honor music legends during a moving in-memoriam segment. Reba McEntire delivered her first-ever Grammys performance, while all-star tributes honored Ozzy Osbourne, D’Angelo, and Roberta Flack.
But the night’s biggest winner was Kendrick Lamar, who took home five awards, including record of the year. The wins brought Lamar’s career total to 27 Grammy Awards, surpassing Jay-Z as the most awarded rapper in Grammy history.
