(CNN)- Martin Scorsese recently opened up about his struggles with the studio and the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) during the making of his classic film Taxi Driver.
In a revealing clip from the upcoming five-part documentary Mister Scorsese, the acclaimed filmmaker recalls a tense moment when his frustrations nearly boiled over.
“Marty was very upset,” Scorsese said. “I get a call, at the office, and he said, ‘Steve? Steve? It’s Marty. It’s Marty, Steve. Yeah. Can you come over to the house?’” He added that there were rumors he “wanted to kill the head of the studio,” jokingly acknowledging the pressure he faced. When asked if he had a gun, Scorsese responded, “I was gonna get one.”
Mister Scorsese will premiere October 17 on Apple TV+. The documentary offers an in-depth look at the legendary director’s career and creative process.
In other Hollywood news, the beloved Shrek franchise is gearing up for another sequel. Shrek 5, originally scheduled for release in July 2026 and then moved to December 2026, has now been pushed back to June 30, 2027, according to Universal Pictures.
