Hit and Run Reward Money Increased
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Jones County Sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation into a hit and run case.
The sheriff’s office has increased the reward money in hopes that someone would contact them with information about the incident.
28-year-old Marquis Deshawn Lawson was struck and killed, July 24, on Wheeler Road.
The sheriff’s office is now offering a $2,000 reward to encourage more leads surrounding the vehicular homicide case.
Jones County Sheriff’s office Captain Earl Humphries says the reason his office is offering more money is because they need help determining who is responsible for Lawson’s death.
“Anybody providing any information can do so [as] an anonymous tip,” said Humphries. “However we will have to assign a number to that person so that if the information results in an arrest or conviction then we can make sure that person would then receive that reward.”
Family and friends held a vigil for Lawson, praying that someone would come forward with information about the incident.
If you have any information about this case call the Jones County Sheriff’s office at 478-986-3479.
