Historic Macon Shows Renovated House to Public

Historic Macon revitalized a house that was on its last leg.
And tonight the group opened it up for a viewing to kick off the 2011 Cherry Blossom Tour of Homes.

“We bought it to save it from being demolished, but it took us about 6 years to raise the funds and the interest and to get our board committed to make this house happen,” said Josh Rogers, executive director of Historic Macon.

Historic Macon focuses on preserving Macon‘s historic and architectural heritage. The group recently renovated a house on Orange Street that was ready to fall over. The results of the renovated Victorian house are astounding. Rogers says the project wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of others.

“We’ve had over 20 in kind donors from middle Georgia contribute materials worth over 60-thousand dollars,” said Rogers.

14 professional interior designers from Macon, Milledgeville, Atlanta and Birmingham decorated the house. Katherine Walden coordinated the entire decoration of the process and had to bring 14 different ideas into one beautiful house.
