Mercer Bears Wins In Emphatic Fashion Against Presbyterian Blue Hose

MACON, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – After a 1.5-hour storm delay pushed the game to an 8:30 p.m. start time, the Mercer Bears defeated the Presbyterian Blue Hose 63-10 on Thursday in their season opener at Five Star Stadium.

Mercer (1-0) led 28-3 at halftime and didn’t look back. Quarterback DJ Smith was 20-24 for 320 passing yards and three touchdowns. He also threw one interception. Hess Horne also accounted for a touchdown pass.

Running back DeWayne McGee had 16 carries for 57 yards and scored the first touchdown of the night for the Bears. Wide Receiver Brayden Smith had three catches for 83 yards and a receiving touchdown.

The Bears racked up 500 yards of offense while holding Presbyterian (0-1) to 185.

Mercer visits Bethune-Cookman on Saturday, September 7.
