MACON, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) -In GHSA Class A D-II Boys Soccer, Georgia Military College Prep made it back to the GHSA Class A D-II State Title game after last season’s 2-1 loss in the same title game at Mercer’s Five Star Stadium.  However, this time around, GMC Prep took home the trophy as the Bulldogs win 4-1 over the Rebels.

This is their second championship in four years after winning it all in 2021. The Bulldogs are 3-0 at Five Star Stadium all time making this their third title.

GMC Prep Head Coach Scott Seagraves spoke after the game about how proud he is of this group of young players. “These guys are fantastic. We talk about family a lot at GMC and these guys are really family. They love each other” said Coach Seagraves. “We had eight seniors and thirteen sophomores that played a lot this year, so I think our future is bright.”

Bulldogs Senior Forward Brian Sherwood, who had one goal and two assists in the victory, won the title when he was a Freshman, and his older brother won the first title with GMC Prep. He tells me “it comes full circle. We’ve played soccer for years as a family and it means the world to me. Obviously I’m so excited, the team is my brothers, I couldn’t play for a better team…all the fans that came out and supported us, our coaches are the best in the world. I’m just so grateful to have been able to live here in Milledgeville and play here today” said the Bulldogs Senior. “It’s just one of those things you dream about. It’s been haunting me, I’ve had nightmares since last year’s state final, and just to finally do it, it just means the world.”
