UPDATED SCORES & HIGHLIGHTS: Dublin advances to the Sweet Sixteen in first playoff appearance in 10 years

The Dublin Fighting Irish (14-16) beat the Screven County Gamecocks (12-16) to advance to the GHSA 1A D-1 Sweet Sixteen

DUBLIN, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – The Dublin Fighting Irish (14-16) beat the Screven County Gamecocks (12-16) to advance to the GHSA 1A D-1 Sweet Sixteen.

The Fighting Irish defeated the Gamecocks 7-5 in game one and came back to win game two 7-6.

Dublin will face Irwin County on the road April 29th.

In other scores from the opening round,

Bleckley County advanced with two big wins over Claxton. The Royals will face Bacon County April 29th.

Crawford County moves on after two wins over Pelham. The Eagles face Metter on the road April 29th.

Hawkinsville loses to Miller County in two games to be eliminated.

Johnson County wins their series with GSIC in three games. They will face Mt. Zion in the second round April 29th.

Wheeler county wins their series with Seminole County in three games. They will face ECI in the second round on April 29th.

Wilkinson county loses both games to Lake Oconee.

Wilcox county advances after beating Early County twice.  They face the winner of Clinch County/Jenkins County on April 29th.

Mary persons beats Long County twice to advance in 3A play. They play Columbus on April 29th.

Peach county wins their series with Savannah Centry Day in three games. They play Harlem on April 29th.

Jones County loses two games to Mcintosh to be eliminated.

Treutlen is eliminated to Baconton County.

Washington-Wilkes beat Georgia Military in two games. They will face Bowden on the road in the second round on April 29th.
