MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Clouds are keeping temperatures down about 3 to 8 degrees from Tuesday. The weak area of low pressure that was centered off the Georgia/South Carolina Screenshot 2025 07 23 034929Screenshot 2025 07 23 034950Screenshot 2025 07 23 034841coast has drifted back west over the eastern Gulf. As a result, the moist airmass that is trapped under a ridge of high pressure continues to provide the source for diurnal convection. Given the atmosphere, expect the main concern with these strong storms the potential for downburst winds and localized heavy rainfall to possibly produce flooding. Ridging will center over Georgia by the weekend, resulting in warming temperatures and the return to near or at Heat Advisory levels. Expect diurnal convection to continue, however, the  coverage should diminish somewhat through the weekend as ridging intensifies and the airmass has lower available moisture.
