H&H to reopen
The Macon restaurant closed its doors after the owner “Mama” Louise Hudson did not have enough funds to keep the business alive.
Moonhanger owner, Chad Evans did not want to tell 41NBC the value of renovations, but says in about three weeks customers will enjoy traditional southern comfort food at H&H.
Evans says he wants visitors to feel like it’s the same restaurant that originally opened its doors in 1959, so he’s keeping the same décor, and adding new flooring and fully renovating the kitchen.
“This place is certainly very deeply engrained in Macon’s music culture, which sometimes overshadows its cultural value…It’s because of this room, and Mama …and with goodwill,” says Evans.
According to Evans, the legendary restaurant was a place musicians like the Allman Brothers gathered. He adds Mama Louise welcomed everybody.
Evans, and his company plans to have a grand reopening for the restaurant on Wednesday, August 13.
