Hero Fest celebrates community heroes

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – More than 80 vendors ranging from police officers to armed forces members gathered in Perry to celebrate Middle Georgia heroes.

Hero Fest kicked off with a family 5K run. Throughout the day, people participated in the 10K obstacle race,helicopter rides, and enjoyed live music.

Angel Nunez works for the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, but he also spent 21 years in the military.

He said it was amazing to see so many people coming together to show their support and gratitude for their community heroes.

Although this was the first Hero Fest, event organizers hope to turn this into an annual celebration.
