Heavy Rains Causes Hundreds of Power Outages In Middle Georgia
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Hundreds of homes are without power Tuesday morning after thunderstorms tore through Middle Georgia overnight.
According to Middle Georgia Power, 1,300 homes lost power during the height of the storms around 9 pm Monday. As of Tuesday morning, 980 customers are without power in Central Georgia. The power company says almost all of those outages are in Milledgeville.
Thirteen counties were under a tornado watch overnight including, Baldwin, Bibb, Bleckley, Butts, Crawford, Crisp, Dodge, Dooly, Houston, Jasper, Jones, Monroe, Peach, Pulaski, Putnam, Twiggs, Wilcox, and Wilkinson counties. Middlge Georgia experienced heavy rains, strong thunderstorms, and some hail.
Crews are working throughout the day to restore power in affected homes.
