Heavy rain on the way for Thursday
Good evening,
Our stretch of dry weather has run out here in Middle Georgia as we end the week on a soggy note.
A strong low pressure system will bring periods of heavy rain to much of Middle Georgia through the day Thursday. Temperatures will be warming into the 60’s, but don’t expect much in the way of sunshine.
By Friday the cold front will be long gone from the Middle Georgia area, but scattered showers will continue through much of the day with drying overnight. The main impact will be the cooler air that moves into the area for Friday and Saturday.
Rain totals look to be impressive, once again, with areas across Middle Georgia picking up, up to 3″ of rain in just 48 hours. We will need to monitor for the possibility of localized flooding.
Mostly dry weather will move in, just in time for the Christmas holiday weekend. Temperatures will be on the rise into the 60’s by the end of the weekend. The coldest night will be overnight Saturday into Sunday when temperatures near freezing.
